Mongolia Pavilion

THEME: Gobi and the City

PAVILION: A huge dinosaur egg, symbolizing the fragile city, is laid at the center of the Pavilion, implying that the urban development shall be based on ecological balance.

EXHIBIT: Four large LED screens will surround a small stage where Mongolian artists and performers will present traditional Mongolian music and dance periodically. When there are no performances scheduled, two movies – one depicting the creation of the world, the other life in the Mongolian Gobi desert – will be shown. A panoramic photomural depicting Mongolia’s modern urban setting will surround the rest of the Pavilion. Two dinosaur skeletons, which were frozen in time in the middle of a fight to the death, are displayed as well as models of baby dinosaurs and information about dinosaur eggs. Visitors may also experience life in a gher, a distinctive wooden tent, which is made without a single nail; one is set up near the entrance of the dinosaur egg. There are also exhibits displaying the splendid handicraft of Mongolian carpets and tapestries.
